What Vrbo says
Vrbo's pay-per-booking page says the 12% commission fee is charged on "the rental amount and any additional fees you charge to the traveler (such as cleaning, pet, and boat fees)."[1] The booking fee doesn't apply to Property Damage Protection or Trip Cancellation Protection, and taxes and security deposits carry only a 3% payment processing fee, not the 12%.[1]
What a cleaning fee costs you
| Cleaning fee you charge | Vrbo 12% | You keep | Charge this to keep the full amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| $100 | $12.00 | $88.00 | $113.64 |
| $150 | $18.00 | $132.00 | $170.45 |
| $200 | $24.00 | $176.00 | $227.27 |
Our arithmetic at the 12% rate on Vrbo's help page.[1] The "charge this" column is fee รท 0.88, rounded to the cent. Skift reports the 12% starts on October 29, 2026.[2]
